Korean Mother of Pearl Inlaid Lacquer Fabulous Wooden Bowl, 6-D, 2.2-H
Korean Mother of Pearl Inlaid Lacquer Fabulous Wooden Bowl, 6"-D, 2.2"-H. Black glaze is comes from one type of tree takes a month just collect 1 gallon. Layers on the bowl are cuttings from mother of pearls inlay which gives natures of rainbow. Mother of Pearl Inlays are cut to shapes nowadays but my item looks more of broken to pieces to put together which got me think that this lacquer bowl isn't made during modern time knowing how fragile inlay of Pearls are. Possibly used at least 20 of small sized oyster inlays (Mother of pears inlay) just to make one bowl. Process from beginning to finish takes layers of painting put together thousands of pieces together.
Start glazing again and wipe reviewing the pearls and repeat again, . Days of repeated most skilled and time consuming processes just to finish one product.
Black glazes could keep the glaze painted wooden item's for up to last 1000 years without damaging! This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Korea".
